Texas Holdem Poker : Semi-Bluffing and Defensive Betting

[ English ]

Seems like most persons are constantly talking about pre-flop method, so I wanted to talk a bit about how I wager on soon after the flop. Perhaps I can help others, or possibly they have advice to improve my play.

I feel that 2 of the most significant plays right after the flop are the semi-bluff and the defensive bet. That is because these are the plays you produce if you havent hit a hand except you’ve a very good drawing hand. Its easy to bet on a hand whenever you flop a monster. But I think that these two are the very best ways to bet on a drawing. Each one is played depending on you challenger(s) and your postion. So here’s how I bet on it, so tell me what you think.

Early Position – Tight Opponents:

A semi-bluff works fairly effectively in this position. Are available out betting and if a tight player did not hit a hand he will most likely lay down, and if he’s unsure you might get a call. Except watch out, if that tight player comes back more than the top it may possibly be time to have away.

Early Location – Loose Opponents

It is were I like to accomplish a defensive bet. Make a decision how several chips you’re willing to chance on your draw and wager. That is usually a much smaller wager than regular. It has been my encounter that the loose player will usually just call a bet instead of re-raise. Even so, in the event you check to them, theyre a lot more likely to throw in a lot more chips than your willing to pay.

Late Position – Tight Competitors

It is the best time to do a semi-bluff, particularly if most of the table checks. If that’s the case you will probaly pick up the pot now. If a gambler before has bet, you might have to make a decision if he has a hand or not. If not, then reraise and he will possibly go away since he was trying to steal the pot. Should you feel he does, properly then it’s time to calculate your odds, and make a decision if the pot odds are worth the call.

Late Placement – Loose Competitors

This one is really a bit difficult, simply because it is more difficult to put a loose player on a hand. And if your in late location against loose gambler, chances are they’ve already wager. It is had been I usually make a decision to take a chance and arrive back more than the best of them and hope they don’t call, and if they do, nicely then its time to wager. Chances are although even a loose player will go away in the event you are available back strong enough.

Bear in mind although that these are moves I only produce following the flop comes and I have a respectable drawing hand (usually not a gutshot either). Perhaps 4 to the flush or the open ended straight, for instance.
