Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the final game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a big pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest enthusiasts in the world. While participating in online poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He often plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the min takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amt.. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world could be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be found competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in money rounds?
