Net High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the closing table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest enthusiasts around the world. While betting on online poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world could be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be found wagering on web poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
