No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He started competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing love for poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
