Annie Duke mightn’t have captured her first World Series of Poker Bracelet until two thousand and four but she is still one of the most feared poker players around the ring games at The Bellagio in Vegas. Annie’s long-awaited WSOP win came with success at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.
While competitors from the "young crowd" of poker run wild after a huge win at the tables, Annie heads home to be "mum" to her 4 kids. She was born in NH and grew up in a family of card players. If you do not believe that, have a look at her brother, Howard Lederer, when he plays, Howard taught her how to play the game.
However, Annie Duke is no small fry kind of girl and has captured her cut of difficult matches, which includes eliminating Howard along the way on several occasions.
Winning well over $3 million in tournament play, Annie branched out to become a consultant to both UltimateBet.com and actor Ben Affleck, who aspired to build up his skills to become a force at the poker table.
You may observe her at the Bellagio, you will see her on TV and you might even compete against her in an internet poker match, but do not count on a simple win. Unless you are a champion-in-the-making, you won’t beat her. although, it would be fun to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
