Web High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the final game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While gambling on net poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I know Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world at times. The greatest players anywhere in the world might be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen competing in web poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes Omaha and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
