Web Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the final game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest enthusiasts in the world. While playing net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently participates in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amt.. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world might just be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be found competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in cash rounds?
