Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve final table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a big pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While competing in web poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I believe television can skew our view of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might just be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be seen playing online poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in high stakes omaha hold’em and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
