No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer grew up in a family of 5 where he loved participating in various card games at a young age. He found himself becoming very competitive in the above-mentioned card games as he was competing against his dad. After finishing secondary school, Howard decided to place higher education on hold for a bit and relocated to New York to play some serious chess. While participating in chess, he was introduced to a poker game going on in the rear of the room. Howard’s initial 2 years were tough as he would play countless hours and lose most times. He made some additional money by becoming an runner for the poker players. He theorized he could boost his game by balancing his life outside of poker. He made an attempt to get more rest and focus even more on the game.

The actual advancement in his abilities happened when he began betting at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the best gamblers would frequently challenge each other. Howard had access into some of the foremost minds in chess. With their assistance, Howard Lederer would tweak his logical thinking skills. He applied these strategic concepts to the game of No-Limit texas hold’em.

He also helped his sibling Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Annie was an excellent student of poker as she would consistently be asking questions about the right way to make the correct decision. Howard Lederer told Annie Duke to head out to Vegas and play in the WSOP competition. Annie Duke is one of the greatest women players the poker world has ever seen. Howard moved to Sin City in 1993 and played money games for the successive decade. When the WPT gained popularity, Howard decided to play more tournaments.
