No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse feedback from others kill his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
